Customer engagement is one of the most important factors in the success of a project. We in DataArt realized it a long time ago. Success directly depends on the relationship inside the team.

Our relationships with friends are strong because they are based on trust. The same approach we follow in our work. In business, we keep the same values and constantly reinforce them with our actions and work.

Here are three lessons our team gained after 10 years of collaboration with Ocado Technology:

Communication, Communication, and Deadlines

It is critical to create transparent communication in the team and with the client. Now more than ever we can openly interact with people from all over the world. While globalization brings us closer, it is very important to remember that the people we work with can be with different cultural backgrounds.

Failed deadlines not only puts the manager in an awkward position but also worries other developers. In order for the team to act in harmony, each participant must fulfill their obligations. It is very important to be able to create an environment in the company where all achievements and successes can be regularly tracked and celebrated. And every failure can be openly discussed without emotions. This helps team members to better focus and keep track of their responsibilities and tasks.

That’s why the key to success and a quality product is transparent communication in a timely manner.

Hear and Listen

Sometimes developers and customers have a different vision about what the final product should look like. During the work on the project, engineers are usually passionate about the product and want to improve it in every possible way. This is good and the team’s enthusiasm should be encouraged. Nevertheless, you should not thoughtlessly implement all the proposals, since this can negatively affect your relationship with the customer. Any changes must be agreed upon with the customer to avoid misunderstandings.

It is important to look at the situation from different points of view, taking into account the views of all stakeholders. About this Grzegorz Cempla, Managing Director in Ocado Technology, talks about in his recent podcast as well as the need to reject traditional approaches, learn to fail, and scale.

Keep Calm and Enjoy

For more than twenty years of existing, DataArt has developed a system — a happy person is the guarantee of a successful project and preserved nerve cells. Each of the team members should enjoy working on tasks and strive for success.

Happy Teamwork!

Kind Regards,

Your DataArt Retail
